Good morning, everyone! It’s the final day of July, and time once again for a Beat the Backlist update.
In last month’s update, I mentioned that I had a couple of goals for the month of July. First, I wanted to complete three additional Beat the Backlist prompts. And second, I wanted to double my number of bingos (from two to four) before the end of the month. I’m very excited to announce that I was able to not only complete both of my goals, but actually surpass one of them!
This month’s Beat the Backlist reading was pretty eclectic, even by my standards. In addition to checking out a Disney/Marvel Comics-produced comic book, I also continued reading Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher Saga. I also had the opportunity to read a novel which focused on one of the secondary characters from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. All three titles were very different in terms of their content, but they did have one thing in common…they were all excellent!
Here are the prompts I completed during the month of July:
- Bought it for the cover:
- Disney Kingdoms: The Haunted Mansion (Joshua Williamson, Brandon Seifert, et. al.)
- Written in letters or diary entries:
- Georgiana Darcy’s Diary (Anna Elliott)
- Lost royalty:
- Baptism of Fire (Andrzej Sapkowski)
I have not yet had the opportunity to review any of this month’s reads here on The Unapologetic Bookworm, but I will be posting my thoughts about all three titles over the course of the next few months.
Overall, I am very pleased with my progress on Beat the Backlist this month. I have currently completed 79% of my bingo board (which is a total of 42 squares, including the free space). I’ve also managed to get a total of five bingos!
Here is a look at my current bingo board progress…
My goal for the month of August is to complete three additional Beat the Backlist prompts. While I normally don’t choose my prompts (or books) for this challenge in advance, this coming month I have three specific prompts that I want to complete. They are: “all about music,” “non-binary protagonist,” and “good book, bad cover.” Do you think I’ll be able to complete these specific prompts before the end of August? You can let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
My next Beat the Backlist update will be posted on Tuesday, August 31st. In the meantime, I hope you will visit The Unapologetic Bookworm throughout the coming month for book reviews and other new content.
Have a great weekend!
