Beat the Backlist Update: June 2021

Good morning, everyone! We’ve officially reached the final day of June, and it’s time for another Beat the Backlist update.

In my previous update, I said that my goal for the month was to complete three additional prompts and get another bingo. I am very pleased to report that I was able to complete my goal well before the end of the month!

Just like I did during the month of May, I spent most of June focusing on reading books that I’ve owned for a long time, but hadn’t gotten around to reading. The books that I read for Beat the Backlist this month all came from different genres, including the fantasy, contemporary fiction/romance, and thriller genres.

Here are the prompts that I completed during the month of June:

  • Standalone:
    • The Seventh Bride (T. Kingfisher)
  • Book you’re giving another chance:
    • The Hygge Holiday (Rosie Blake)
  • WTF plot twist:
    • The Death of Mrs. Westaway (Ruth Ware)

While I have not yet had the opportunity to post reviews of this month’s reads, I will be posting them here on The Unapologetic Bookworm during the coming months. I’m really looking forward to sharing my thoughts about all three of these titles!

Overall, I’m very pleased with this month’s Beat the Backlist progress! I have currently completed 73% of my bingo board (a total of 39 squares, including the free space). I’ve also managed to get a total of two bingos.

Here is a look at my current bingo board progress…

This is my current bingo board progress as of June 30th. This month’s reads are represented by the dark blue graduation cap stamps.

During the month of July, my primary goal is to complete three more Beat the Backlist prompts, but I will also be attempting to double my current number of bingos. Do you think I’ll be able to accomplish my goals? You can let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

My next Beat the Backlist update will be posted on Saturday, July 31st. In the meantime, I hope you will visit The Unapologetic Bookworm throughout the coming month for book reviews and other new content.

Have a great rest of the week!
