Good morning, everyone! February 14th is here once again, and I would like to wish you all a very Happy Venom-tine’s Day!
Why Venom-tine’s Day instead of Valentine’s Day, you ask?
If you’re relatively new to The Unapologetic Bookworm, you might not be familiar with my opinions regarding Valentine’s Day. I won’t go into my reasons for disliking Valentine’s Day this morning, since I wrote an entire post on the subject last year, but let’s just say that past experiences working retail have soured my feelings about the holiday. If you’re interested in learning more, I hope you’ll check out my “Why I Don’t Celebrate Valentine’s Day…” post.
I established Venom-tine’s Day in 2020 as an alternative to the traditional Valentine’s Day celebration, to give myself an opportunity to spend the day focusing on one of my all-time favorite Marvel Comics characters…Venom.
This year I am celebrating Venom-tine’s Day by reading Venom by Daniel Way: The Complete Collection, written by Daniel Way and illustrated by Francisco Herrera, Paco Medina, Sean Galloway, and Skottie Young. This will be my first time reading this particular comic book collection, and I will be posting a review here on The Unapologetic Bookworm tomorrow.
I will also be re-watching the 2018 Venom movie, which stars Tom Hardy. If you would like to read my review of this movie, you can find it in last year’s Venom-tine’s Day post. I was hoping that I would be able to watch this movie in a double-feature with Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which was originally scheduled to be released in October of last year, but the second movie’s release date has been pushed back to June 25th. Even though I won’t be able to watch the sequel just yet, I am really looking forward to watching Venom this evening.
Of course, no Venom-tine’s Day celebration would be complete without chocolate. This year’s treat is Ghiradelli Triple Fudge Brownies! Although, I did throw a package of miniature Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups into the batter to add some extra flavor, so technically they’ll be quadruple fudge/peanut butter brownies… I’ll be posting pictures of today’s dessert on Instagram a little later in the day.
If you would like to follow my Venom-tine’s Day celebration, I hope you will consider following me on social media. I’ll be sharing updates about my celebration on Twitter, and will also be posting pictures throughout the day on Instagram.
Whether you are celebrating Venom-tine’s Day along with me, or are celebrating Valentine’s Day, I hope that you have a wonderful day!
