Tea, Anyone?

Good morning, everyone! I hope that you are having a fantastic week so far, especially those of you who are currently finishing up your last week of school before Winter Vacation. I know it probably seems like Friday afternoon will never arrive, but you’re almost there! In the meantime, I hope that all of your exams go well, and that your grading will be quick and easy.

I would also like to wish you all a very Happy International Tea Day! Or maybe I should be wishing you all a Happy Belated International Tea Day instead… To be honest, I’m not really sure.

In a somewhat baffling twist, I recently discovered that there are apparently two dates for International Tea Day. While most Internet sites seem to agree that International Tea Day should be celebrated on May 21st, the National Day Calendar website currently shows the holiday taking place on two different dates, May 21st and December 15th. While I strongly suspect that there is an error on their website, I did unfortunately miss celebrating back in May… So I’ve decided to go ahead and celebrate my love of tea today!

Just like coffee drinkers, many of us who love tea have very decided opinions of which brands and blends are the best.

Just a few of the blends commonly found in my pantry…

Personally, I have a strong preference for the Chai Tea produced by Twinings of London. It has a wonderful scent and tastes amazing. While the company does have several varieties of their Chai Tea, including Pumpkin Spice, French Vanilla, and Spiced Apple (which all sound amazing), I’ve only had the opportunity to try the original blend.

I’m also partial to several of the herbal teas created by Celestial Seasonings, including their Cinnamon Apple Spice, Country Peach Passion, Bengal Spice, and Raspberry Zinger blends.

If you’re a fan of tea, the Celestial Seasonings factory, which is located in Boulder, Colorado, does offer a free Tea Tour to their visitors. While their Tour Center, Tea Shop, and CafĂ© are currently closed to the public as a result of the pandemic, if you happen to have the opportunity to visit when they are open, I highly recommend taking the tour. I had a chance to tour Celestial Seasonings several years ago with some friends, and I loved it!

While a nice, hot cup of tea is lovely at any time of the day (or year), I’m convinced that there’s nothing better than drinking tea while you’re curled up with a good book…especially on a chilly day like this one. It’s one of the coziest ways to spend your time. In fact, it’s precisely how I’m planning to spend the rest of the morning. I’ve got a warm blanket and a book already waiting for me in my favorite chair.

Happy International Tea Day!
