The Way of the Househusband, Volume Four

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to read some great comic books, manga, and graphic novels while I was participating in the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon. I had a tremendous amount of fun, and I was especially excited to continue reading one of my favorite new manga series…Kouseke Oono’s The Way of the Househusband.

The fourth volume of The Way of the Househusband continues the adventures of a man named Tatsu, a former yakuza member who now lives his life as a devoted househusband. (If you’d like to learn more about this series as a whole, please check out my review of the first three volumes.)

Like the previous books in the series, this volume gives the reader glimpses into Tatsu’s life, focusing on events such as: chasing a fish-stealing feline through the market, using underworld contacts to locate the best ingredients to make bubble tea, shopping for bargains at 100-Yen stores, and helping the neighbor kid with his summer homework.

I’ve loved this series ever since I picked up the first volume. The first three books in the series had me laughing out loud as I read, and volume four managed to do the same. It’s a great continuation to a fantastic series.

As of right now, the first four volumes are available in English, and volume five is supposed to be released on May 18, 2021. I’m already looking forward to reading the next book.

2021 will also be bringing fans of The Way of the Househusband a brand new anime!

Earlier this week, Netflix announced that an anime adaptation of The Way of the Househusband will be premiering on their streaming service in 2021. Unfortunately, Netflix has not given us a specific release date yet.

Not very much information has been released regarding the anime, but I did learn through the Crunchyroll website that Kenjiro Tsuda will be voicing the character of Tatsu. Anime fans may recognize him as the voice of Seto Kaiba in Yu-Gi-Oh!, or as Chikage Kazama from the Hakuōki anime series.

I’m really excited to see this manga finally become an anime series, and I can’t wait to watch it!

If you are an anime/manga fan and you haven’t had the opportunity to read The Way of the Househusband, there’s still plenty of time to get caught up on the manga before the anime is released. If you do have the opportunity to read this series, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
