Good morning, everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend so far! Today is the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon, which begins at 8 AM (EST) and ends at the same time on Sunday morning.
This is the third time that I have participated in the Readathon, and I’ve chosen to do things a little differently than I have in the past…
As many of you already know, I am currently participating in a challenge that I am calling the 31 Days of Bookmarks, which is my alternative to this year’s Inktober challenge. I’ve really been enjoying my work on these bookmarks, which I’ve been showcasing on both Twitter and Patreon. I am also continuing my annual Halloween Horror Movie-thon, so I will be taking breaks from reading for both of these things, as well as the occasional nap.
During my past couple of Readathons, I’ve really tried to read a wide range of titles, including books meant for readers of various ages, as well as different literary genres. This time, however, I’ve decided to focus (almost) exclusively on comic books, manga, and graphic novels. I’ve got quite a few great titles in my home library to choose from, so I’m sure it will be a fun day of reading!
As I did in the Reverse Readathon a couple of months ago, I am going to be publishing quarterly updates on my progress, but will not be publishing book reviews during the challenge itself. Instead, I will be posting my reviews of the books/series I choose to read over the coming weeks.
I am also going to be playing the Readathon Bingo game! This was a lot of fun during the Reverse Readathon, and I’m looking forward to seeing how many squares I can complete this time. If you are participating in the Readathon yourself and would like to play Readathon Bingo, you can find the Bingo Card and directions on the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon website. (There are currently two different versions of this month’s Bingo Card available for readers; I have elected to use the first version.)
I hope that you will check back throughout the Readathon for updates regarding my progress and overall impressions of the challenge. If you are interested in more frequent updates about my Readathon progress, I will be posting pictures, polls, and updates on Twitter throughout the day.
The Readathon is going to be starting in just a few minutes. I’ve already built myself a nice, cozy reading nest on my couch, so I’m just going to grab a breakfast shake, and then I’ll be ready to start. My first read of the day is going to be the three-volume Cemetery Girl series, by Charlaine Harris and Christopher Golden.
Here we go!
