In yesterday’s post, I announced that I was going to be finishing up my home library reorganization project today, and that I would share pictures of the finished room with all of you this afternoon.
This is not the update that I’d expected to publish today.
As many of you know, my mum was diagnosed with brain cancer last August. She had the tumor (which was a glioblastoma) removed, and has been undergoing cancer treatment ever since. Back at the beginning of June, Mum had a second tumor removed surgically and she began taking a different form of chemotherapy.
A few days after my grandmother passed away, Mum had an MRI to check on the progress of the new treatment. Her scans showed new tumor development, as well as significant swelling. She has been having headaches for the past several weeks, which have been getting progressively worse and more frequent. Her doctor recommended a new course of treatment in addition to the chemo, and we have been waiting for that new treatment to begin.
This morning, Mum woke up with an absolutely horrendous headache and she and my dad went to the ER. She was admitted to the hospital, and they are currently working to bring down the swelling that has been causing her most recent headaches. She is currently resting, and waiting on a visit from her oncologist.
At this point, I don’t know what method of treatment the doctors will recommend, or how long she will need to stay in the hospital. I will most likely be spending a significant amount of time at the hospital, depending on their current policies regarding visitors, so updates may be somewhat sporadic over the next few days.
If you would be willing to keep my mum and our family in your thoughts and prayers this week, we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you all so much for your support during this time.
