Good evening, everyone! It is almost time for the start of the Dewey’s 24 Hour Reverse Readathon, and I am very excited to dive into my first book.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, I am going into today’s Reverse Readathon with a slightly more laid-back approach. When I participated in the Readathon back in April, I kind of attacked the challenge with a “full steam ahead” mentality. While I had a lot of fun and really enjoyed the books I read, I was left feeling very physically drained at the end, and it took me a couple of days to recover.
So while I would very much like to spend the entire time reading, I intend to do a better job of listening to my body this time around. I am not planning to stop for a full 8-hour period of sleep, but I may take a nap at some point during the Reverse Readathon.
I am going into this challenge with a specific reading plan in mind, however. My plan is to read a variety of different genres during the challenge, focusing exclusively on titles from my TBR bookshelves. Some of the books I have chosen are titles that I have owned for years, while others are relatively new.
I’m also planning to play a little Reverse Readathon Bingo! If you’re participating in the challenge yourself and would like to play along, you can find the Bingo card and instructions on the Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon website.
Just like last time, I will be posting quarterly updates here on The Unapologetic Bookworm throughout the next 24 hours. If you followed my posts during the previous Readathon, you know that I also published a couple of book reviews during that challenge as well. I am not planning to do that this time around. Instead, I will be posting reviews of the titles I read over the next few weeks.
If you are interested in more frequent updates, I will also be posting about my progress on Twitter @UnapologBkworm. I will be running a few polls and posing questions on Twitter throughout the Reverse Readathon as well, and would love for all of you to participate if you have the opportunity.
The Dewey’s 24 Hour Reverse Readathon will be starting in just a few moments. I’ve got my reading nest set up, a stash of peanut butter M&Ms, and my first book ready to go. I’m going to be starting the Reverse Readathon with a mystery novel called Shinjū, by Laura Joh Rowland.
I hope you’ll check back frequently today and tomorrow for Reverse Readathon updates.
Let’s get started!
