Good morning, everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend so far, and that you are continuing to stay healthy. This week, due to the increase of Covid-19 cases in my area, local libraries have once again closed their doors, returning to curbside-only service. I really want to encourage all of you to continue following social distancing protocols, wash your hands frequently, and wear a mask when you are in public.

If you’re a frequent visitor to The Unapologetic Bookworm, I’m sure you noticed that one of the posts I promoted in last week’s update did not happen as planned. While my Internet service (or lack thereof) did pose a significant problem for me when it came to posting this week, I actually decided to delay my article about classroom libraries because I felt like the information I wanted to share belonged to a different time and place…one that did not include the uncertainty and threat of a global pandemic.

The reality is that none of us know what’s going to happen in the fall, and to make recommendations about building classroom libraries seems premature in light of the fact that many teachers currently don’t know if they will even be in a classroom. I will eventually post an article about classroom libraries here on the website, but I’ll be holding off on publication until we know more about what the fall semester will entail.

But let’s move on to this week’s POPSUGAR Reading Challenge update, shall we?

As you know, I am currently down to the final five prompts of this year’s challenge! I began reading my first title at the beginning of the month, which is Frank Herbert’s Dune. I’ve really been enjoying the book, and I had originally hoped to finish reading it prior to today’s post, but it just didn’t happen this week. As of right now, I am about halfway through the book, and I am looking forward to reading more of it later today.

With just under two weeks remaining in July, I honestly don’t know if I will be able to meet my reading goal for the month, but I am going to try. I will be sure to let you know about my progress in next Saturday’s update.

I did mention last Saturday that I would be making a special announcement in this week’s POPSUGAR Reading Challenge update. For those of you who don’t know, The Unapologetic Bookworm is coming up on its one-year anniversary on August 1st! I have to confess that I’m actually more excited for this anniversary than I am for my own birthday (which is also coming up next month). I’ll be giving you more details on the anniversary itself, but some awesome new content will be coming to the website during our second year of operation!

While we’re waiting for August 1st, I hope you’ll stop by frequently for book reviews and other original content. Next week we’re going to be focusing on books vs. movies, and I’ll also be sharing my thoughts about some of the exciting books that are due to be released later this year.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
