POPSUGAR Reading Challenge 2020 Update: Week Twenty-Four

Good morning, everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend so far. It was a tough week for my family, but we made it through!

As you know from last week’s update, my mum was scheduled to have surgery this past week to remove a second brain tumor. She had the surgery on Thursday morning, and was in the operating room for a little under five hours. The procedure went very well, and Mum did great. Her surgeon was very satisfied with the results of the surgery.

Mum is currently still in the hospital, and she is doing well. I am not able to go and see her while she is there, since the hospital will not allow visitors (per their Covid-19 precautions), but we’ve been able to stay in contact through texts and phone calls. Her doctor estimated that she would probably be in the hospital for 2-3 days after her surgery, so she may be able to come home as early as tomorrow!

Thank you to all of you who have been keeping my mum (and my family) in your thoughts and prayers. We really appreciate it more than I can express.

In last week’s update, I mentioned that I was going to be taking a week-long break from the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge. I have stuck to that resolution this week, and enjoyed spending time with books that were not related to Reading Challenge prompts. While it’s been nice to take a break, I am planning to return to the Reading Challenge next week, and I’m actually looking forward to tackling a couple more reading prompts before my next update. (If you’re also participating in the POPSUGAR Reading Challenge, or another year-long reading challenge, I highly recommend taking the occasional break to read books purely for enjoyment. It’s a very nice change of pace, and it does help you avoid burning out.)

While I had originally planned to post some new book reviews this week, something that I know many of you were looking forward to, I found that I needed to take a break from posting as well. The coming week should look much more like what you’re used to seeing from me, and I hope you will visit The Unapologetic Bookworm frequently next week for book reviews and other new content.

Have a great weekend, everyone!
