Star Wars Day

Happy Star Wars Day, everyone! While I can’t say that it’s solely responsible for my life-long obsession with science fiction (I’ve got to give a lot of credit to Star Trek and Lost in Space), I’ve been a massive fan of Star Wars ever since I was a kid.

I can still remember watching the original trilogy for the first time on VHS with my parents. I completely fell in love with the characters and the story, and spent a lot of time imagining what it would be like to travel the stars in the Millennium Falcon.

I don’t really have any specific Star Wars Day traditions. Instead, I try to do something different each year. With the recent release of the final movie, I did consider attempting to marathon all of the movies (including Rogue One and Solo), but ultimately decided against that plan. This year, I will be watching the original trilogy (episodes 4 through 6). I’ve decided to go completely old school, so I’m going to watch the original theatrical releases of all three movies (rather than the Special Edition).

I will also be watching a couple of episodes of The Big Bang Theory that are related to Star Wars, including “The Proton Transmogrification” (season 7, episode 22) and “The Opening Night Excitation” (season 9, episode 11).

In addition to watching the movies, I will also be reading Star Wars: Tales from Jabba’s Palace, a collection of Star Wars short stories edited by Kevin J. Anderson. (I’ll be writing more about this book in an upcoming POPSUGAR Reading Challenge update, as it fulfills one of this year’s Reading Challenge prompts.) It’s been a long time since I last read this collection, so I’m really looking forward to diving back into it.

Are you currently celebrating Star Wars Day, or do you have a favorite Star Wars memory that you’d like to share? Please leave a comment on this post. And, if you would like to stay up-to-date on the progress of my Star Wars Day celebration, you can follow me on Twitter @UnapologBkworm. I will be posting updates on Twitter throughout the day.

May the 4th be with you!
