Good morning, everyone! I hope that you are having a wonderful weekend so far. The Dewey’s 24 Hour Readathon is going to be starting in just a few minutes! This is my first time participating in the Readathon, and I’m really looking forward to the experience. I am currently planning to participate for the full 24 hours, minus a few short breaks for meal preparation, but I am tackling this challenge without the aid of caffeine, so we’ll have to see how the day progresses.
Based on what I’ve been seeing on Twitter over the past couple of days, it looks like some readers are going into today’s event with a specific plan or, in some cases, a theme in mind. I decided not to go that route this time around. (I did briefly consider using today as an opportunity to knock out several more POPSUGAR Reading Challenge prompts, but ultimately decided not to.) Instead, I’m going to be letting my whims dictate my reading choices for the day. This method of tackling the Readathon should be a lot of fun for me, but I think it will actually be more interesting for all of you as well, since I will most likely choose books from a variety of genres, as well as books written for readers of many different ages.
Throughout the day, I will be posting updates here on The Unapologetic Bookworm, so I hope that you will check back frequently. I will be posting a general update about my progress every six hours or so, along with occasional reviews of books/series that I read during the next 24 hours. Additional reviews of the books I am reading today will appear on the website over the next few weeks. If I mention a title that you’re interested in during today’s Readathon, but don’t review it today, please leave a comment on one of the Readathon update posts. I will be giving top priority to reviews of requested titles.

My alarm just went off to announce the start of the Readathon! And so our journey begins…
